It was a short journey with these young girls. They have started from zero. But now, how great designs they are doing today! Some of them even do client work who came to my classes only two months ago. I am talking about the students of my graphic design batch under the Her Power project.
A trainer named Md. Mahmud Hasan, Graphics Designer of Riseup Labs’ shared his excitement about his students who are learning Graphic Design under the Her Power project. He also said, as a mentor my target is, that each student will earn from the marketplace, supporting themselves and their families after the next 6 months.
Including Mr. Mahmud Hasan’s students, 25,125 women in Bangladesh are now receiving training on IT for their and the country’s sustainable development through the ‘Her Power Project.’ Riseup Labs and other tech companies in Bangladesh are helping the government to pave the way with IT training for women by conducting this training. So that, they can empower Bangladesh, and themselves.

Riseup Labs has been conducting training in several courses for empowering women with the help of technology. started training women under the ‘Her Power Project’ in October 2023 after signing a partnership.
Providing training to women is a part of the social responsibility and preparing resources for the IT Industry, said Riseup Labs’ Founder & CEO Mr. Ershadul Hoque. He says,
Whenever we work on a project, we need resources to deliver quality work. Bangladesh has a lot of talented men and women. But still, we need more talent. So, to meet the expectation we have to prepare them. In this way they won’t be unemployed anymore. Through the ‘Her Power Project’ 25,125 women are receiving training on IT. Imagine, if they earn $1000 per month how much revenue will Bangladesh get? It’s a blessing for our country.

What is Her Power Project?

The Her Power Project is a significant initiative aligned with the visionary ‘Digital Bangladesh – Vision 2041’ of the Bangladesh government. The aim is to empower women and enhance transparency, accountability, and governance across all levels and sectors. It connects citizens, ensuring access to essential services even in the remotest corners of Bangladesh.
This project is part of the government’s broader efforts to promote ICT-related activities, spearheaded by the Department of ICT within the ICT Division of Bangladesh.
The targets of Her Power Project are:
- Provide five-month-long training to 25,125 women in various categories across 130 upazilas
- Conduct a one-month mentorship program for trainees
- Organize 46 seminars at central and district levels to promote women’s empowerment in information technology applications
- Establish a single women entrepreneurship platform for the development of 25,125 women as ICT professionals and entrepreneurs
- Form partnerships with government and private organizations, organizing job fairs
She Power Project
The Her Power Project was known as the ‘She Power Project – Sustainable Development for Women through ICT’ at first. It was introduced in 2018, the government trained about 10,500 women in the ICT sector.
Its success in 21 pilot districts has led to its expansion across the country. Through HER POWER PROJECT: Sustainable Development for Women Through ICT (Phase – 2), the initiative aimed to eliminate gender discrimination and poverty by empowering women in 130 upazilas across the remaining 63 districts. The goal was to ensure sustainable empowerment by enhancing women’s skills through the secure use of information technology.

It seeks to produce skilled women workers and entrepreneurs in the technology sector at the upazila level. How Riseup Labs Providing Training under Her Power Project

There are three types of training programs under Her Power Project – Women Freelancers to Entrepreneurs, Female IT service providers, and Women as Call Centre Agents. Riseup Labs is providing training on the ‘Women Freelancer’ category to thousands of female trainees. They are learning the following courses under the guidance of their trainers:
The IT company, Riseup Labs is conducting the training in 12 Upozila of 4 District in the Rajshahi division of Bangladesh. The Upozilas they are covering are:

Riseup Labs will conduct training in three phases in 18 months. In each phase, they will provide training in six months. The entire course will be completed within the first five months. Then the students will have mentorship in the last month.
