Introduction

Let Us Learn is an education program by UNICEF Bangladesh that focuses on equity, overcoming barriers to formal education, and providing resources for out-of-school children. To achieve this, the project required a Real-Time Monitoring (RTM) application to track the learning and progress of individual children under the program. This system enables efficient data analysis, real-time reaction to insights, and proactive tracking to seize opportunities or address challenges.

The Challenge

The project tackled key challenges affecting the efficiency and effectiveness of the education system under the Out of School Children in Bangladesh initiative:

  • Manual and Error-Prone Processes: Managing the Multi-Level Multi-Grade education system manually led to inefficiencies and errors.
  • Limited Data Insights: Users lacked access to diverse data for monitoring performance and making timely decisions.
  • Navigation Difficulties: Staff struggled to locate and reach unfamiliar centers efficiently.
  • Student Progress Tracking: Assessing, comparing marks, and managing student progress was cumbersome.
  • Observation Analytics: Admin users needed a streamlined system to analyze and assess center performance effectively.

Developing the Let Us Learn system presented unique challenges for Riseup Labs that called for innovative solutions to enhance educational management:

  • Digital Transformation: Transitioning a traditional manual education system into an efficient digital platform.
  • Feature Finalization: Collaborating closely with stakeholders to refine and optimize system functionalities.
  • Real-Time Assessments: Creating a dynamic system for accurate, real-time evaluations of students and centers.
  • Data Management: Streamlining large-scale data imports and developing insightful visualizations.
  • User Training: Empowering ground-level users with the skills to adopt and utilize the system seamlessly.

The Solution

Riseup Labs addressed the challenges with innovative solutions, creating a seamless and efficient system for managing education processes:

  • Digitalized Multi-Level Education System: Developed a web platform for Admin, Staff, and Teachers, along with a mobile app for Staff and Teachers, enabling efficient management from any location.
  • Advanced Data-Driven Dashboard: Designed dashboards with real-time data, customizable charts, maps, and filters to provide actionable insights for decision-making.
  • Real-Time Map System: Integrated location tracking and navigation tools to simplify center visits.
  • Automated Assessment System: Allowed teachers to assign marks and generate unit- and cycle-based results to track student progress.
  • Hierarchy-Based Monitoring System: Enabled data accessibility across user levels, automated center assessment reports, and streamlined data collection via API integrations.

Conclusion

Riseup Labs transformed UNICEF Bangladesh’s Let Us Learn project into a streamlined, digital platform, enhancing management, decision-making, and accessibility. Real-time dashboards, automated assessments, and hierarchy-based reporting provided actionable insights, while the map system improved navigation efficiency. This user-friendly system fosters better educational outcomes and operational efficiency for educators and administrators.
