At Riseup Labs, we believe technology is a driving force for transformation and a bridge between communities. That’s why we are proud to announce our new partnership with the UNICEF Europe and Central Asia (ECA) Region, supporting the maintenance for OPS! Web Application, a digital platform designed to help adolescents and young people (ages 14–24) challenge their biases and promote inclusion.

About the OPS! Web App

The OPS! Web App was first launched in 2021 as part of UNICEF’s “OPS!” campaign in Italy. Inspired by Harvard’s Implicit Association Test, the app uses interactive, game-like experiences to help youth recognize and overcome prejudice.

Since its launch, the platform has evolved in phases:

  • Phase 1 (2021): Tested in Italian schools with 68 students and teachers.
  • Phase 2 (2022): Expanded to include gender and sexual orientation biases.
  • Phase 3 (2023): Released publicly with automated results and UNICEF awareness materials.
  • Phase 4 (2024): Promoted at festivals and youth events, reaching 40,000 users (36,000 aged 11–24).

Scope of the Partnership

Under this agreement, Riseup Labs will deliver comprehensive maintenance and migration services to ensure OPS! remains stable, secure, and scalable for future growth.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Migration to Azure Cloud: Moving OPS! from Amazon Web Services (AWS) to Microsoft Azure, ensuring reliability, cost-efficiency, and future scalability.
  • End-to-End Maintenance: Regular updates, bug fixes, performance optimization, and monitoring to provide a seamless user experience.
  • Security First: Applying security patches and protecting sensitive user data to align with UNICEF’s data protection standards.
  • DevOps Excellence: Building a CI/CD pipeline in Azure DevOps for smooth, automated deployments and faster iteration cycles.
  • Reporting & Transparency: Monthly progress reports, issue tracking, and dedicated communication channels for UNICEF.

This partnership ensures OPS! continues to operate smoothly, securely, and at scale, helping UNICEF advance its mission of youth inclusion.
