It encourages the Government to take the lead in incorporating novel, all-encompassing measures to improve society.

Teachers Portal is a web-based platform for primary and secondary education teachers' collaboration, co-creation, and problem-solving. Here, instructors participate in a cutting-edge peer-to-peer learning process by producing and exchanging multimedia-based content, elevating their ICT abilities and enabling them to incorporate technology into their classroom learning projects.

Teachers produce and disseminate digital material across all topic areas in the Shikkhok Batayan platform. That's why it quickly gained popularity. The number of members has already surpassed 5 million, and it is rising. It now has the biggest local collection of educational materials.

The Story behind Teachers' Portal

Bangladesh has many educational institutions, including Primary, Secondary, College, Technical, Madrasa, and Universities. There are close to one million teachers serving two crore students. A solid foundation of these one million teachers is necessary to construct the next generation.

As a result of this awareness, the Government has taken an effort to put up multimedia classrooms in roughly 21,000 schools. 80,000 instructors have received multimedia classroom management training. The training process is still in progress.

However, it is also absurd for a teacher at a given institution to provide all the materials required to run a multimedia class. The Bengali open internet platform Shikkhok Batayan was developed for such a necessity.

The voyage began on May 16, 2013. Currently, this Portal includes more than 60,000 teachers as members. More than 46,000 pieces of multimedia content have a specific theme. The Teachers' Portal currently has cutting-edge digital content for general, technical, and madrasa education systems at the primary, secondary, and higher secondary levels.

Target Audience

Target audience of Teachers Portal

High schools, colleges, Madrasa, vocational schools and college students and teachers in Bangladesh are the intended audiences for the Shikkhok Batayan. But the users are only teachers.

There are currently 60,000 instructors who are members. Aspire to Innovate (a2i) aims to deliver this platform to all one million instructors.

Teachers in this Teachers' Portal contribute to the Multimedia classroom by making content for their pupils.

The lessons of the textbooks in the Shikkhok Batayan are helping them. The Portal offers cutting-edge digital content for general, technical, and madrasa education systems at the primary, intermediate, and upper-secondary levels.

Who Plays the Roles?

This Portal is wholly run by teachers of Bangladeshi educational institutions. They collaborate with each other. But still, it needs to be directed by someone to be well organized. So there are three types of authors in this Shikkhok Batayan.

Super Admin: Super admins can access the admin panel
Admin: Admin has the power to give a special rating (pedagogy training)+ all access similar to the member
Member: The members who are teachers can upload, download, comment, and do regular tasks.

Enhancing the Teachers' Portal platform will ensure that teachers are prepared, their capacities are developed, and they have a service platform to help future citizens provide high-quality teaching and learning in the classroom through joint production.

Aspire to Innovate gave the task to Riseup Labs (RUL) to enhance and maintain many features of this Portal. In two years, all the features will be included, and teachers will be well-equipped with the essential information, abilities, and attitudes to support a healthy educational ecosystem and educate students for the future.

Now the Teachers' Portal is on the Mobile App also. Its name is Teacher's Guide. The users of this website can do all their work and get information in this app. It became easier to read all the books, watch videos of class, create content, and more.

According to the requirement of A2i, Riseup Labs developed this Mobile app for the Teachers Portal. It is a mobile app that brings the power of the Teachers Portal right to the user's Android mobile phone. Teacher's Guide is an extension of the web-based learning platform. A2i wanted to develop and integrate the feature into the mobile app.

Login and Registration

Teachers can securely log in to their accounts or create new ones directly from the mobile app. This ensures that their data and progress are synchronized across devices.

Users can explore the app's functionalities as guests, allowing them to get a feel for the features and content available before signing up.

The Teacher's Guide feature, integrated into the mobile app, allows teachers to access and read books from the National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB). These books are specifically designed to help teachers grasp the new curriculum for classes 1, 6, and 7. Teachers can refer to these resources to better understand the subjects they teach.

The app includes an offline mode. It enables teachers to access previously downloaded content, including the Teacher's Guide books, without an active internet connection. This ensures uninterrupted learning, even in areas with limited connectivity.

Maintenance and Support

Maintenance and support for Teachers Portal

The Teachers' Portal is a smart, engaging online platform that helps teachers prepare to support a sustainable educational ecosystem. Therefore, it requires adequate Maintenance as well as technological assistance. Riseup Labs will provide the necessary support for this Portal to function properly:

  • Riseup Labs will provide Teachers' Portal post-development support service under structured SLA and Change Management Architecture
  • Continuous health check of database, tuning database, tuning codes & queries, and mitigating the issues
  • Recording and managing reporting issues and user-level application-related technical problems received through the method prescribed by a2i, developing and deploying necessary solutions
  • Updating the training manual and adjusting the changes in the system
  • Fixing all bugs in the system, irrespective of their nature and complexities
  • Two Support Engineers of Riseup Labs are working from 9 AM to 9 PM daily, including Holidays, to address maintenance and support issues for two years from now
  • Enhance and/or re-arrange existing features of extended development of any supplementary feature within the existing technology framework complying with core SRS
  • Support and Maintenance will cover fixing all bugs and system errors identified by the system users
  • Support and improve Role-wise credential system incorporation for better user role management
  • Riseup Labs will implement an auto backup and database archiving system to meet the challenge of system recovery in case of any disaster or missing data
  • The firm's team works at a2i designated location for specialized requirements. One Support engineer is working on users' complaints, and another is writing the contents of the Teachers' Portal
  • A Project Manager has been assigned by RUL to work closely with the a2i designated official to ensure the proper delivery of any assignment during the support and maintenance phase.

Workshop on teachers capacity development

On June 29 and 30, 2022, a2i hosted a workshop To promote teacher capacity, teaching and learning activities. They arranged the training session with the Cabinet Division, ICT Division, Department of Primary Education, and Department of Secondary and Higher Education.

Thirty teachers from several institutes joined The "Workshop on Capacity Development of Pedagogy Experts in Teacher Window." During this workshop, teachers received training on AI-based features, identifying the requirements for teacher window apps, and UX design brainstorming.

They received training on the Shikkhok Batayan dashboard's features. They learned about demand evaluation, management techniques, and base management from a Riseup Labs Product Manager.
