‘People of Rangpur can do a job in a local company. However, very few of them get a chance to work in a dynamic company. But as the Smart Employment Fair 2023 is being organized here, we could apply to such companies. It was one of the great things that happened at Rangpur.’ A job seeker expresses his feelings about the Smart Employment Fair 2023 at Pirganj in Rangpur that Riseup Labs has joined.

On Sunday, 19th March 2023, a day-long Smart Employment Fair (Fair and Seminar) 2023 was held at Pirganj Upazila Parishad Auditorium, Rangpur, Bangladesh. 22 technical institutes at the national and local levels, including RUL, participated in the fair.

Honorable Speaker of the Parliament of Bangladesh, Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury as the chief guest, and Hon’ble Minister of State for Information and Communication Technology, Zunaid Ahmed Palak MP, attended the job fair as the special guests. Dr. Chitralekha Nazneen, Deputy Commissioner, Rangpur, presided over the event.

The Speaker of Jatiya Sangsad, MP Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury, said that,

ICT is the most significant contributor to Bangladesh’s development. A silent revolution has taken place in the field of ICT for the Advisor to the Government of Bangladesh on Information and Communication Technology, Sajeeb Wazed Joy, the child of Pirganj. It currently brings in $1.5 billion for Bangladesh.

An IT Training Center will be Established in Pirganj

The State Minister for ICT, Zunaid Ahmed Palak, announced the establishment of an IT training center in Pirganj to create 3,000 freelancers in the region and reach the goal of one million freelancers by 2025. After Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury requested the establishment of computer labs in schools in Pirganj, he announced the establishment of an IT training center at the Smart Employment Fair 2023.

The Benefit of The Smart Employment Fair 2023

The objective of the Smart Employment Fair 2023 was to benefit the young generation who wants to build their career in Information Technology (IT) Industry. Therefore, they arranged an Employment Seminar and Employment Fair 2023 for it.

At the closing of the seminar, the following received benefit from the guests:

  • Three Job seekers received immediate appointments at the job fair
  • 10 local freelancers received laptops
  • Women entrepreneurs received Award

Employment Seminar

The educated young wants to work in the IT Sector. But everyone doesn’t get a chance to do that. The ICT Division of Bangladesh arranged an Employment Seminar for them at that fair. The benefits of the Employment Seminar were:

  • Basic knowledge of Freelancing
  • Advice and Tips on Freelancing
  • Knowledge of Important Skills for Freelancing
  • Chance of Listening to the Succesful Freelancing Entrepreneurs

Employment Fair 2023

Employment Fair 2023 was arranged for the Graduates and Job Seekers of Pirganj, Rangpur. They got to meet 22 IT companies in Bangladesh here.

The Benefits of the Employment Fair 2023 were:

  • Career Advice and Tips for Shortlisting after Application, Instant Interview, and Screening in Companies as the Job Seekers’ Choice
  • Seminars and Discussions on Information Technology

The inaugural Smart Employment Fair at Pirganj in Rangpur, was themed “Employment of the Future” and featured 450 freelancers trained by the ICT department. These freelancers showcased their experiences and provided training to numerous young individuals interested in building a career in the ICT industry.

The fair also had entrepreneurs sharing their experiences, with the belief that each entrepreneur could create ten more.
