Tuberculosis (TB) is no ordinary illness. This infectious disease continues to claim lives, with particularly adverse effects on children and the vulnerable. In the fight against childhood tuberculosis (TB), effective training of healthcare professionals is crucial. That is why icddr,b, in partnership with Riseup Labs, is developing the Childhood TB Training Module—an online platform designed to equip healthcare professionals, especially those in remote regions, with the skills needed to diagnose and treat childhood TB.

In developing the module, icddr,b organized the Workshop to Review Script Developed for Digitalization of Childhood TB Training Module on 31st July. The workshop housed key medical experts, health directors, and professors from top-tier medical institutions across Dhaka to shed valuable insights on the script. The workshop aimed to ensure the script, which primarily features instructional materials, case studies, and interactive elements, clearly communicates essential information and improves learning for healthcare providers.

The objective behind the workshop was to ensure the training module’s accuracy and clarity through a detailed script review and expert insights. Moreover, it was an opportunity to evaluate the module’s effectiveness, the engagement potential of the training materials, and whether it features realistic case studies and scenarios.

The workshop, facilitated by over 40 medical experts from renowned institutions, provided invaluable insights for refining the script. Expert feedback on clinical accuracy, pedagogical soundness, and digital content was diligently noted, leading to further enhancements of the training module.

The workshop was instrumental in identifying key challenges. These include representing complex medical information in an easily understandable, multimedia format to increase the module’s effectiveness. The workshop addressed the need for clear guidelines on content to maintain engagement without overwhelming users. Finally the training modules wide accessibility would improve its effectiveness and desired outcome.

The workshop helped in formulating important decisions for further initiatives. Specialists and key figures shared their feedback, thus improving the script and the project’s impact. The feedback gathering was reinforced by a Q&A and Discussion session, which shed further light on how to best leverage digital tools in medical training. As per the decisions, further steps will include pilot testing with a small group of users, sharing the updated module with healthcare professionals, as well as continuous evaluation.

The workshop advanced the digitization of the Childhood TB training module, ensuring the script is accurate, engaging, and effective. This collaboration will enhance training for healthcare professionals, improving Childhood TB management and treatment.
