Survivor Alliance needed a centralized, easy-to-manage learning platform for its leadership training program. We built a branded Moodle Cloud environment supporting three learning pathways: Self-Directed, U.S. Live Cohort, and Global Live Cohort. Designed for intuitive navigation, accessibility, and multilingual readiness, the platform also included reusable course templates and an orientation-first flow, enabling the team to independently scale and manage content with minimal support.

We built a tailored learning architecture that bridges the gap between structured cohort management and flexible, self-paced learning.
The platform organizes the curriculum into three distinct pathways: Self-Directed, U.S. Live Cohort, and Global Live Cohort. A simple, tile-based navigation experience ensures learners quickly identify their correct program type and access relevant courses.
To ensure learners understand the environment and expectations, we implemented an orientation-first flow. Using Moodle’s Restrict Access configuration, learners must complete community agreements, privacy basics, and an acknowledgment quiz before the self-directed modules are unlocked.
The Self-Directed Pathway supports non-linear learning, allowing users to start where relevant. The curriculum features structured Level 100 (Essentials) to Level 300 (Advanced) micro-courses, complete with practice activities, quizzes, discussion prompts, and completion rules.
The system seamlessly supports structured monthly cohort-based learning for both U.S. and Global audiences. Each live cohort module integrates pre-work, Zoom-based virtual sessions, attendance tracking, post-work, and resource repositories.
To eliminate vendor dependency for future updates, we developed reusable Moodle course templates for different learning levels and monthly cohorts. Each template includes pre-configured placeholders, consistent activity structures, and standardized completion rules.
The LMS motivates learners and monitors progress through detailed tracking. The system captures activity completion (lessons viewed, practice submitted, quizzes passed), awards badges for micro-course completion, and utilizes optional certificate rules to acknowledge milestones.
The platform cleanly separates U.S. and Global learners through robust cohort controls. This enables administrators to securely manage different learner groups, control course access, track progress by cohort, and run localized live learning programs.
Inclusivity is built into the platform’s core. The LMS environment supports captions and transcript workflows, alt-text guidance, readable contrast optimization, and dynamic multilingual content settings to serve diverse learner groups.
