You are not disabled; you are special! At least for us. Riseup Labs want to be a part of your empowerment through learning. EMPORIA Apps benefit disabled people with eLearning and finding jobs.
The eLearning platform Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (EMPORIA) is a mobile application. EMPORIA application is specially designed to empower and include persons with disabilities developed by the app development company Riseup Labs.
The development period was from 10th February 2020 to 10th May 2020. And eLearning platform EMPORIA App for mobile and EMPORIA Employer App was released on 19th May 2020 on the Google Play Store and the App Store.
EMPORIA Apps Summary
- It is estimated that 16 million people in Bangladesh live with a disability, meaning 10% of the country’s total population. But receives little or no assistance.
- For developing persons with disabilities as a skilled workforce in ICT, make them empowered, promote their employment, and make them citizens, the client took initiatives for the eLearning platform Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (EMPORIA) and job platform EMPORIA Employer.
- eLearning platform Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (EMPORIA) and job platform EMPORIA Employer developed by Riseup Labs, helped disabled people and got a 4.5 rating on Google Play Store.
Challenges of the Client for the EMPORIA App
The report indicated that 16 Million people in Bangladesh live with a disability. In a country of 160 Million, 10% face disability, which was a great obstacle for Bangladesh.
For making people with disabilities an asset to the country and empower them by learning and providing jobs was the main challenge for the client. The key challenges were facilitating employment for 80% of persons with different disabilities, training them by the project in IT & other sectors and making them self-employed by freelancing outsourcing.
For establishing the persons with disabilities, including Neurodevelopmental Disorder (NDD), the client wanted specialized audio and video tutorials in the ICT training with voice and sign language instruction.
The app development company Riseup Labs developed the EMPORIA eLearning application and EMPORIA job portal according to the instruction of the client.
Challenges of Riseup Labs for the EMPORIA Apps
Clients asked for the EMPORIA mobile App with two sections: an eLearning platform and a Job portal. The eLearning platform will be designed with ICT courses for persons with disabilities and a dynamic exam system. And the job portal should be built to empower persons with disabilities so that these emerging groups of people become a part of the national development.
They need a separate app for the recruiter/ admin panel with confidential information.
While developing the EMPORIA Application for the physically disabled and EMPORIA Employer App, the development company Riseup Labs faced the following challenges:
- Collecting API from the client
- UI understanding
- Maintaining similarity with the iOS and the android version.
- Timely delivery
- Quality Assurance
Where the other challenges were:
Building an eLearning platform with a job portal allowed employers to post job advertisements and get information from job seekers. And both of them would be able to find their suitable skilled person/ platform.
Another challenge was to create specialized audio and video tutorials on ICT training with voice and sign language instruction for people with disabilities, including Neurodevelopmental Disorder (NDD).
Solution for the Client through EMPORIA App and EMPORIA Employer App
Riseup Labs has developed the Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (EMPORIA) Mobile App with an eLearning platform and Job portal to solve the client’s pain point. And designed the eLearning platform with ICT courses for persons with disabilities and a dynamic exam system.
Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (EMPORIA) Mobile App has gained a 4.5 rating on Google Play Store. The job portal has been dedicatedly and built to establish persons with disabilities so that these emerging groups of people become a part of the national development.
So the solutions provided by Riseup Labs were:
- Training materials use a simple user interface that is understandable to the target audience.
- Detailed content illustrated with photographs, videos, GIFs, animation references to source materials, key references to the course, etc.
- This platform allows users to take exams in any course of their choice. If they pass the exam, they get a digital certificate.
- Users can map their progress at any time through the course.
- The course materials and scripts were reviewed by relevant presenters.

How Does EMPORIA App Work?
The app responds dynamically according to the type of disability users accessing the application. Moreover, it allows you to complete the courses in both Online/Offline status. There is a certification system so that achievements in completion courses and exams will be recognized. You will be awarded after specific course goals have been met and the exam completed.
