What’s better than celebrating Bengali New Year at the office? Celebrating it with a surprise feast. Riseup Labs brought the spirit of Pohela Boishakh with a grand, traditional Bengali lunch from the CEO. The surprise left everyone smiling and feeling right at home.

The thought behind the celebration

Pohela Boishakh (the celebration of welcoming the Bengali New Year) is one of the biggest and most cherished cultural practices all Bengalis look forward to every year. From vibrant fairs to traditional meals, the day carries deep emotional, cultural, and historical significance.

Just like Bengali people love to hold their traditional practices in every part of life, Riseup Labs never wants to miss a chance to combine them with regular corporate life. But when the same old celebration becomes too predictable, the excitement fades, right? That’s why this year, the team turned the tables with a surprise traditional feast to welcome the Bengali New Year 1432.

The surprise feast and a heartwarming gathering

As noon approached, employees were called in to a vibrant, Boishakhi-themed lunch setup. What a spread it was! The star of the show? The ever-iconic Panta Ilish (steeped rice with Hilsha fish) —a dish close to every Bengali heart. Four mouthwatering types of bhorta added layers of flavor. To top the meal, came the dessert delight – Bengalis’ all-time favorite –  soft, juicy Rosogolla

Jokes, laughter, and the joyful mood of the employees created a homely environment, reminding everyone that this place, where they spend a huge part of their daily lives, has certainly turned into a home away from home.

Now let’s see what the employees posted on their social media

“When the CEO says ‘Lunch is on me!’ and suddenly it feels like Pohela Boishakh again!! Surprise Boishakhi feast at Riseup Labs!”

“Who needs a restaurant when your office serves Panta Ilish and Rosogolla? Truly a taste of home at work! #PohelaBoishakh #Grateful”
