Job Context:
Riseup Labs looking for a detail-oriented and enthusiastic SQA Engineer - Intern to join our Quality Assurance team. This role is an excellent opportunity for aspiring software testers who will work closely with experienced QA engineers and development teams to gain hands-on experience in software quality assurance, API testing, database validation, and test automation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute manual test cases (functional, regression, smoke, UI) on web and mobile apps
- Write and maintain test cases and checklists from requirements and user stories
- Log clear, reproducible bug reports in Jira (or similar) with steps, screenshots and severity
- Verify bug fixes and run regression tests before releases
- Test REST APIs using Postman and validate responses against expected data
- Run basic SQL queries to verify data integrity
- Assist in writing simple automation scripts (e.g., Selenium, Playwright, Cypress) under guidance
- Understanding of SDLC, STLC and basic testing types (functional, regression, smoke)
- Ability to write clear test cases and bug reports
- Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking
- Good written and verbal communication in English
Educational Requirements:
- B.Sc in Computer Science and Engineering from any reputed public or private university.
Preferred Qualification:
- Hands-on experience with Postman, Jira, or TestRail
- Exposure to automation tools (Selenium, Playwright or Cypress) and a scripting language (Java, Python or JavaScript)
- Familiarity with Git and Agile/Scrum
- Academic or personal projects that show testing work (GitHub link welcome)
- Experience with AI-assisted testing (e.g., using AI tools to generate test cases, test data or automation scripts) is a plus
