Job Context:
We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Database Administrator (DBA) to join our team. The DBA will be responsible for the performance, integrity, and security of our databases. You will also be involved in planning and development as well as troubleshooting any issues on behalf of the users.
Job Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, and maintain database systems (e.g., MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, etc.).
- Ensure database security, integrity, stability, and system availability.
- Perform database tuning and performance monitoring.
- Plan and execute data backup and recovery strategies.
- Design and implement database schemas, tables, views, and procedures.
- Work closely with development and DevOps teams to integrate databases with applications.
- Automate and optimize regular maintenance tasks.
- Handle database migrations, upgrades, and patches.
- Provide technical support and training to other teams as needed.
- Maintain documentation of systems, processes, and procedures.
Educational Requirements:
- B.Sc in Computer Science and Engineering from any reputed public or private university.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications like Oracle DBA, Microsoft Certified Database Administrator, or AWS Certified Database is a plus.
- Knowledge of NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Cassandra, etc.) is a plus.
- Familiarity with data warehousing and ETL tools.
Skills Required:
- Strong knowledge of database structures, theories, principles, and practices.
- Proficient in SQL and performance tuning.
- Understanding of data backup, recovery, and security.
- Familiarity with database design and documentation.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- Proven experience as a DBA or similar role.
- Hands-on experience with relational database systems.
- Experience with cloud-based database services (AWS RDS, Azure SQL, GCP, etc.) is a plus.
