Students from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) of Bangladesh Army University of Engineering & Technology (BAUET) completed their Industrial Attachment on SDLC under Riseup Labs. The course provided an in-depth exploration of the Software Development Life Cycle in the industrial infrastructure through a series of 8 classes.

What is SDLC

SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle) is basically the roadmap of software development that sets best practices for software designing, developing, and maintaining software applications to ensure the best user experience. It is a systematic process divided in several phases that include requirements gathering, design, implementation, testing, deployment, and maintenance.

Learning Outcomes

Participating in the industrial attachment focused on the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) took the university students one step forward, teaching them to connect theoretical learning with real-world applications.

First-hand Experience in a Professional Environment

Students gained a thorough knowledge of each process of software development in the industry. This exposure helped them understand workplace dynamics and the expectations of employers.

Team Work and Collaboration

Working on tasks lets the students develop essential collaboration skills. They got to learn how to communicate effectively, share responsibilities, and leverage each other’s strengths to achieve common goals.

Practical Application of Theoretical Knowledge

The industrial attachment was a combination of theory and application. Where the theoretical knowledge provided a solid foundation. The assessment and assignments allowed students to apply what they have learned in a practical context. This hands-on experience reinforced their understanding, boosting their confidence to further represent themselves in a professional environment.

Certificate Giving

The closing ceremony was organized at the Riseup Labs Headquarters. A Senior Product Manager and SQA Team Lead was present at the ceremony. The students talked about their learning experiences.

“This Industrial Attachment was a completely new experience for me. As I have been dreaming of working in the software sector during the 3rd year of my university life, this is something I was looking forward to. The friendliness of our trainers let us get comfortable and made this journey a great experience.” says one of the learners.

“Industrial Attachments does not only let us teach the university students. Interacting with them, we also get to understand the potential these fresh minds possess to provide that can help the future growth of this industry.”

Conclusion

The industrial attachment provided the BAUET CSE students with a complete firsthand experience of exploring the phases of Software Development. This will boost their career during the fresher phase if they wish to work in the Software industry in the future.
