‘Job Fair 2023 for the Persons with Disabilities’ was a big initiative for Riseup Labs. They contribute to social responsibility by creating job opportunities for tech-savvy young people. Persons with disabilities aren’t different from them. So team Riseup Labs participated in the job fair to recruit them.

On 7th January 2023, Riseup Labs attended the day-long job fair held in the NGO Affairs Bureau office premises at Agargaon, Dhaka. Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) and the Centre for Services and Information on Disability (CSID) organized the Job Fair 2023 for Persons with Disabilities.

Zunaid Ahmed Palak, the Honorable Minister of State for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) of the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, inaugurated the event as the chief guest. Senior Secretary of the ICT Division N M Zeaul Alam, Director General of the NGO Affairs Bureau SK Md Moniruzzaman and Executive Director of the CSID Khandaker Jahurul Alam were also present as the special guests in the program.

In the inauguration program, Mr. Zunaid Ahmed Palak said:

Technology can eliminate the discrimination between the physically challenged, the especially able people and others. This job fair will create a bridge between the companies and the job candidates.

The Persons with disabilities got the opportunity to submit their CVs by attending the fair directly. The participating companies in the ‘Job Fair 2023 for the Persons with Disabilities’ conducted interviews to recruit IT-skilled people.

Different trade bodies or associations of ICT-based organizations participated in the fair. BASIS, BACCO, e-CAB, ISPAB, CCOAB, BCS, IT Companies and some NGOs in disability work listed in the NGO Bureau also participated in the job fair.

Persons with Disabilities were Excited about the Job Fair

Persons with Disabilities are always socially deprived. The family, friends and others pity them for their disabilities. But they want to be self-dependent. Though they hardly get any chances. So, this job fair was a big chance to stand up for them.

The job fair started at 8 AM. But the candidates reached the venue more early. Most of them came with their family to the job fair. They were eagerly waiting at the NGO Affairs Bureau office premises and roaming at all of the stalls.

Job Candidates with Disabilities Applied to Riseup Labs

Job candidates with disabilities applied to Riseup Labs to get a tech job. More than 130 Candidate dropped their Curriculum Vitae (CV) in the CV box.

All of the candidates were curious about Riseup Labs. They wanted to know if they would be able to work at this IT Services and Solutions Provider Company.

Team Riseup Labs helped them with the necessary application process information, how to develop their skills and what to do to get a suitable job in the IT sector.

CEO of Riseup Labs Visited the Job Fair

Ershadul Hoque, the Founder and CEO of the company, also visited the job fair to see the participation of the person with disabilities. He discussed the response of the candidates and the scope to hire talented persons.

Recruiting the persons with disabilities is a corporate social responsibility. They also deserve a chance along with the other people. Riseup Labs always gives priority to equal employment opportunities. That’s why today, we participated in the ‘Job Fair 2023 for the Persons with Disabilities’. If we find suitable candidates, we surely will hire them.
